Half the calls we take asking for “same-day glass repair in Penrith” can genuinely be done that day. The other half cannot, and we say so up-front. This is the honest breakdown of what fits in a single day and what does not.
Same-day, yes
Standard in-stock panes swapped in existing frames
Clear toughened 4 mm or 6 mm panes up to 1200 x 900. These are common residential sizes and we keep them on the shelf at our Jamisontown workshop for exactly this reason. If the frame is intact and the size matches stock, we can measure, cut, and fit in a single visit.
Make-safe on any breakage
Boarding, plying, or first-aid glass fitted temporarily. Not a full replacement, but the opening is safe, weather-tight, and secure. Standard call-out time is 60 to 90 minutes within Penrith, day or night through our 24/7 emergency service.
Mirror cut and fitted
Wardrobe mirrors, bathroom mirrors, small feature mirrors. Cut, polished-edge, and hung same day where the wall fixings are already in place.
Cracked splashback removal + temporary make-good
We can pull a cracked kitchen splashback and leave the wall painted or covered same day, then return with the new one 1 to 2 days later. Keeps your kitchen usable in the meantime.
Same-day, no
Custom-sized toughened glass
Anything outside stock sizes has to be cut, edge-worked, and heat-treated. The toughening cycle is not a fast process (~2 hours in the oven, plus cool-down). Realistic lead time: 3 to 5 business days from measurement.
Laminated safety glass
Lamination is a manufacturer step, not something we do in-house. Lead time 5 to 7 business days from confirmed measurement.
Insulated glass units (double glazed)
Two panes, a spacer, and edge sealing. 7 to 14 business days from measurement, depending on the manufacturer’s queue.
Frameless shower screens
Have to be templated on site, cut in 10 mm toughened, edge-worked, and cured. 7 to 14 business days.
Full curtain wall or storefront panels
Custom frame systems: 4 to 8 weeks depending on the manufacturer.
Why we cannot just “always be same-day”
Any glazier who tells you they can turn around a custom laminated pane or an IGU in a day is either not telling the truth or planning to use the wrong glass. AS/NZS 2208 safety glass has to be stamped and traceable. There is no way to shortcut the manufacturing process without skipping compliance.

How to know if your job is same-day
Two quick tests:
- Is the pane a common residential size in clear toughened? If yes, likely same-day.
- Is the frame intact? If yes, likely same-day. If the frame is bent or corroded, the frame becomes part of the job.
