Glass replacement is one job. Make-safe is a different job, and most after-hours calls are make-safe. We get the building secured against entry, weather and further damage. Replacement glass comes in the next business day.
What “make-safe” means
Boards over the opening, fixed to the original frame with brackets that do not damage the timber or aluminium. Sharp glass removed and bagged for disposal. Floor inside vacuumed so nobody walks through the shop the next morning and cuts themselves. Insurance photographs taken, wide shots and close-ups of every damaged element.
Why it is a separate visit
At 2am we cannot template, source and cut a replacement shopfront. Glass takes days for custom sizes. Trying to do it in one visit means waiting 12 hours with a hole in the building. Board-up gets you secure in under two hours. Replacement is scheduled for the next morning.
What it costs
After-hours make-safe is a flat call-out plus a per-square-metre board charge. The board cost is usually covered by your insurer as part of the loss. We itemise the invoice so the claims process is clean.
Working with your insurance
Most major insurers know us. We can talk directly to the claims team if you give us the policy number, or we can just send you the photographs and invoice and you handle the claim. Either way, the paperwork we generate (photos, AS 1288 compliance statement, itemised invoice) is what insurers want to see.
After the board comes off
Replacement install usually takes 90 minutes to four hours on site. We schedule around your trading hours. Glass goes in, silicone cures, boards go in the truck, opening looks better than before.
