Retail, hospitality, medical clinics. Whoever you are, a closed shopfront for a day costs more than the glass. We have replaced a lot of smashed shopfronts in Penrith and Western Sydney over the years, and the playbook is more or less the same.
Step one: make-safe within the hour
For overnight breaks we board the opening with ply, secure the perimeter with brackets bolted into the original frame, and photograph everything for the insurance file. Boards stay until the replacement glass arrives. That usually means you open as normal in the morning, with a plywood facade until cut day.
Step two: measure, source, schedule
We template the opening on site, double-check the frame for any flex or damage, and order glass to suit the original spec. Standard shopfront glass is 10 or 12 mm toughened, sometimes laminated for impact zones. Lead times depend on size and tinting: stock sheets a day or two, custom orders three to five business days.
Step three: install around your trading hours
This is the bit that matters. We schedule the install at opening, close, or overnight depending on what is least disruptive for your operation. Most replacements take 90 minutes to four hours on site, including silicone cure time and final clean. We bring our own barriers, drop sheets and a HEPA vacuum so the floor inside is spotless before we leave.

Itemised quote, before and after photos, written compliance statement against AS 1288 for glazing in buildings. That stack of paperwork goes straight to your insurer or strata manager. We have done this enough times that the claims process is the boring part.
