On a commercial fit-out, glass partitions usually go in after the ceiling grid, after the electrical rough-in, after the carpet is down, and before the joiner installs the desk runs. That puts the glazier in the critical path during the final week. We have done enough of them to slot in cleanly.
Where we sit in the build sequence
- Framing done, ceiling grid in
- Electrical rough-in complete, power points marked
- Flooring laid, joiner has not yet installed
- Glass templates taken on site, fabricated, returned for install
- Joinery and desk runs follow once the glass is in
Partition systems we install
Single-glazed and double-glazed framed systems for acoustic separation between meeting rooms and open-plan areas. Frameless butt-jointed glazing for an unbroken glass line. Sliding glass doors with overhead hardware where space is tight.
Acoustic considerations
For meeting rooms and director offices, single 10 or 12 mm toughened tops out around Rw 36 for sound insulation. That is fine for general open plan. For genuine privacy (HR rooms, legal, finance), you want laminated acoustic glass in a properly sealed track at 42 Rw and above. We spec, install, and document.
Manifestation and branding
Glass partitions need a manifestation strip at eye height so people do not walk into them. AS 1288 mandates it. We can apply frosted vinyl strips, custom etched company branding, or printed decals. The job is not finished until the manifestation is on.
Handover paperwork
Compliance statement against AS 1288, photos of the install, glass spec sheets, hardware warranty for the door closers and pivots. Goes to the project manager so the builder can close out the package.
